Thousands of protesters walked along the streets of central London on Wednesday in a protest over pensions, working conditions and pay for university staff.
The University and College Union (UCU) said on Twitter that the demonstration was “Our biggest ever rally”.
The rally began around 1:00 PM at Kings Cross, with former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and UCU general secretary Jo Grady addressing the crowd.
He added: “This is an amazing event of solidarity of so many people looking for a better, fairer society and I’m proud to be part of it”.

The demonstrators then marched from Kings Cross to Tavistock Square, where Universities UK is based. Chants of “We know the money is there, we demand our share” and “Power to the union” were repeated along the way.
Authorities temporarily closed streets and traffic junctions to allow the crowds of protesters to pass through.
